HYBRID OPTO-TUBE COMPRESSOR · ★ 4.95 (21 REVIEWS)

MHB Red

Modeled on Michael Brauer's personal Fairchild* 666, a key part of his vocal chain for decades. The 666 was Fairchild's hybrid opto-compressor, distinct from the delta-mu 660 and 670: part compressor, part saturation box.

Tube amplification with solid-state control circuitry, for a compression character all its own
Modernized attack, ratio, threshold, release and makeup gain controls
Dedicated THD control, from subtle tube warmth to aggressive saturation
Sidechain high- and low-pass filters and stereo link
Wet/dry mix for parallel compression
Analog Entropy for component-level variation between channels

IN THEIR WORDS

From the engineers who use them

"Not only did Kazrog nail the sound, but together we added some cool features. It makes MHB Green way more versatile than the hardware version without sacrificing sound quality."

Michael H. Brauer

on MHB Green

"The 666 has a very different feel from other Fairchild designs. It responds in a way that's uniquely musical, and brings elusive character to vocals and other tracks like nothing else. MHB Red captures that behavior in a way I can easily integrate into my mix templates, as its own unique color in the sonic palette."

Michael H. Brauer

on MHB Red

"I'm sort of obsessed with the MHB Red, it is so musical pushing it or not. I'd take this over a 670 or 660 any day."
