True 252 - Vintage Graphic EQ

Following in the line of vintage analog emulations from Kazrog and Powers Music Group, such as True Iron and True Dynamics (both of which received NAMM TEC Award nominations), True 252 is an emulation of the highly sought after Langevin EQ 252A Graphic Equalizer.

In building this emulation, copious measurements were made of the original hardware in the Powers collection, and every effort has been made to accurately represent it in the digital domain - including the extremely musical EQ curves that inspired the original Motown-style EQ circuit, and gentle natural saturation of the original unit.

This equalizer is incredibly intuitive, and brings life to masters, buses, and individual tracks in a way that feels effortless and immediate.

To download the free demo, select "Free Demo" from the "Version" menu above, then click Add to Cart and proceed to check out (it won't ask for payment information, don't worry!)

Demo limitations:

  • Random silent output
  • Preset save disabled

Kazrog plugin demos are time-unlimited, but have the above limitations. Purchasing the plugin removes these restrictions.

Features

  • Highly accurate emulation of the Langevin 252-A Graphic Equalizer
  • Gain compensation - maintains the same apparent loudness irrespective of the EQ slider settings.
  • Continuous gain control - not stepped as with competing plugin emulations of similar EQs.
  • "Cramping-free" equalization. (More info about EQ cramping, and why it's bad, in this video from Dan Worrall.)
  • Standard Kazrog preset manager with A/B compare.
  • Compensated internal bypass.
  • Separate oversampling settings for realtime and offline processing, adjustable on the fly.
  • Two UI themes - black and gray - based on the faceplates of the original 252-A and its cosmetic variation, the 270.

Another success for Kazrog in the world of analog emulation

The use of a fixed frequency equalizer implies a non universal use. The advantages are the speed and quality of the curves, and the relevance of the choice of the processed frequencies, when they are well done. But the interest of the Langevin emulation by Kazrog is of course elsewhere, in its quality of programming capable of making an analog quality felt with an acuity that is hard to find in the very dense world of plugins. The impression of contour, 3D, euphony, the credibility of the processing, everything breathes Kazrog quality. I don't use it everywhere, because of its architecture, but when it is relevant, it is now my best choice, and allows me to work very quickly, with very very pleasant results.

Smooth!

Simple in design and extremely musical sounding. Instant gratification on pretty much any bus. Highly recommended.

It’s TRUE!

I LOVE this EQ. Does what it does with real musicality. I’v used it on the mix buss, bass, African drums, BGVS, piano. I’ve what does for acoustic instrument samples. All Kazrog, ALL the time!
Terrific Software.

Great sound! Easy and really fast to get what I wanted

After a comparison, I got the most pleasing results with Kazrog. I just came late to buy it with the discount. I wish you give us one more chance to get it with that great price. If it happens! Don’t miss it!

Thanks for the kind words! There is an issue with the display of the presets menu in True 252 1.0.1 and 1.0.0 that affects a small number of older Mac systems. We are investigating the issue as part of the next round of free maintenance updates across our plugin lineup.
