Kazrog and Michael Brauer Announce MHB Red
A New Plugin Collaboration Inspired by Michael Brauer’s Fairchild 666 Compressor
Kazrog and Michael Brauer are proud to announce MHB Red, their second audio plugin collaboration together. The plugin follows the release of MHB Green in late 2024, and continues the deeply collaborative approach established in the first project.
MHB Red is inspired by Michael Brauer’s rare Fairchild 666 compressor, a lesser-known but highly musical design within the Fairchild lineage and a key piece of hardware in Brauer’s personal collection.
While Fairchild models such as the 660 and 670 are widely documented, the Fairchild 666 remains comparatively obscure. Its distinctive compression topology and response characteristics have made it a long-time studio secret weapon. MHB Red focuses on capturing the specific tone, behavior, and practical musicality of Brauer’s unit—without resorting to generalized or exaggerated “vintage” coloration.
As with MHB Green, development of MHB Red is a hands-on collaboration, with Michael Brauer closely involved in evaluation and real-world mix testing to ensure the plugin reflects how the hardware is actually used in modern production. Similar to MHB Green, MHB Red includes features such as Analog Entropy (for realistic variation on stereo sources), Wet/Dry Mixcontrol, preset A/B functionality, and more.
